Hereghty- Heavenly Delicious, Raleigh NC

How they Look:

You know the eyes eat first, so let us

get down to it. The first time I walked into Hereghty’s’ (2 years ago with my then 3yr old daughter) I was overwhelmed by the astounding number of sumptuous and beautiful baked goods and the astounding number of casually well-dressed upper-middle class white people. At ounce, just for a few moments it felt like they were all looking at me too. But thanks to the pandemic, today’s visit was to an empty room, that felt more like a gorgeous young girl waiting for her date to arrive. My ears felt the sweet, cultured jazz playing over the speakers and my eyes absorbed the vibes that the warm tones and art on the walls were sending me.

How they Taste:

Someone at Hereghty is baking authentic American, German, Italian, and Jewish delicacies. Here is where one finds an impressive selection of pastries that are to be found nowhere else in Raleigh; some savory, some sweet, but all of it delicious and of unapologitically high standards.

Coffee:

Iced Oat Milk Latte: The espresso in my latte was bright and citrussy. Every single sip had a superb finish, not sour nor bitter.

Lavender Latte: The Lavender syrup was not too sweet thank goodness. I detest anything that turns my coffee into a dessert. The Lavender zest was easily identified in my mind but not as sharp a distinction on my tongue. This was not a barrier to enjoying the taste of the Joe Van Gogh beans in my cup.

The entire coffee menu is interesting and extensive. Hereghty coffeemenu provides the expected and a few options you did not know you’d want. FYI, the online drink menu is not an exact copy of the in-store menu.

Whose Beans are They Using: Joe Van Gogh
